Mattress Selection FAQs
Do I need to test my mattress before buying it?
Not necessarily. Lying down on a mattress in a store isn’t a good indication of how that mattress will perform over an 8-hour period (or over weeks and months).
Even if a mattress feels initially comfortable, for example, it won’t necessarily maintain that level of support all night. Many mattresses also trap body heat – which may not be noticeable during a 5-minute laydown in an air-conditioned store.
It’s generally better to work out what type of mattress suits your body type best, then find an appropriate mattress online. You’ll have access to a broader, better range of products than you would in-store. One of the simplest ways to check your body’s needs is with a free mattress quiz like this one. You can also visit larger retailers who have in-store diagnostic systems and then take that information home with you.
What happens if I don’t end up liking my mattress?
If you buy a mattress from us and don’t love it, you can exchange it for a different mattress up to 60 days later. (We do ask that you use it for a minimum of 14 nights to make sure your body adjusts to the new sleep surface.) Read more about our worry-free guarantee here.
I have back problems. What mattress is best for me?
Many people with back problems prefer firmer mattresses that provide good support, but every body is different. The best way to find your ideal mattress is to take an online mattress-matching quiz, try the recommended mattress, then keep it or swap it based on your experience.
