Do you find yourself waking up with itchy eyes, a scratchy throat, and a sneezy, stuffy nose? Nobody like allergies, whether they’re seasonal or year-round. It’s really not fun at all.

Tree pollen is a frequent allergy in the spring. Grass pollen and ragweed sprout in the summer to aggravate allergy sufferers even more. And the season’s hot, dry air tends to carry more pollen than chilly, moist days. To make matters worse, certain allergies aren’t seasonal at all. Dust mites and pet dander or animal shedding, for example, can cause sneezing all year.

Allergies, whether seasonal or not, can disrupt your sleep.

How do Allergies Harm your Sleep?

When allergens enter your nose, they irritate your nasal passages, causing painful symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and coughing, which can lead to sleeping problems, and staying asleep. However, allergies can cause a lot of restless tossing and turning, making it difficult to sleep.

If your allergies keep you up at night, you may be losing sleep. You wake up exhausted and irritable the next day. Tiredness can hinder your performance at school and work, compromising your overall health and well-being.

How Can You Sleep Better With Allergies?

Sleeping with allergies might be difficult, but it is doable. With these suggestions, you don’t have to let allergy symptoms prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep:

Shut the Doors and Windows

While it may be tempting to let in fresh air during a hot summer night, an open window attracts allergens into your house. Closing your doors and windows can help keep allergens outdoors and away from your bedroom.

Keep your Pets Out

Because pet hair and dander are two frequent allergens that affect sleep, sleeping in a different room from your pet may alleviate your allergies at night. One way to keep animal dander and fur out of your bedroom is to keep your room pet-free at all times, day and night.

Stay Hydrated

Having runny nose can make it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. Drinking the recommended glasses of water throughout the day may assist to alleviate and cleanse your nasal symptoms. Water can help moisturize your nasal passages and release mucus.

Dealing with Dust Mites

Every home has dust, which attracts dust mites. Dust mites usually live in the bedroom and can interrupt your sleep. To get rid of dust, fluff your pillows and brush off your mattress before going to bed. Make sure to wash your bedding on a regular basis and use a mattress cover/protector for added protection.

Allergies shouldn’t keep you from getting the sleep you need. If you’re looking for a mattress that will help you enjoy a good night’s sleep, check out our Caelum Collection mattress, which has an outermost layer that is hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites, minimising sleep disruption for persons with allergies.

A good night’s rest shouldn’t just be something you dream about. Know more about Caelum Collection below.
